I create plastic works of crickets. To give them lives, something junk and treasured to me are stuffed with in these crickets. For example, acorns, seashells, dead leaves, dried petals, broken balloon fragments, stones picked up at somewhere, beautiful strings, acrylic lumps, tickets to exhibitions I couldn’t go to, and point cards that I don’t use anymore.
I have crickets, but they die soon. I felt somehow sorry for them. This is why I created them. I made them strong, colorful and cool as possible for these pitiful insects.
コオロギの造形作品を作っています。コオロギ達には、命を与えるために、私にとって大切なガラクタが中に詰められています。役には立たないがなかなか捨てられないもの。例えば、どんぐり、貝殻、枯れた葉、乾い た花びら、割れた風船の欠片、旅行先で拾った石、きれいな紐、アクリルの塊、行けなかった展覧会のチケット、もう使わないポイントカード。
私はコオロギを飼っているのですが、彼らはすぐ死んでしまって私の心に何となく申し訳ない気持ちがあり、こうして復活させました。せっかく生き返るのだからと、色とりどりにかっこよく、できるだけ丈夫に作りました。
